I guess no one ever told her so I took that opportunity to put my friend up on game. "Just because you don't have a date doesn't mean you're on punishment! Get your ass up and go out!"
Who said if you don't have a date you should be sitting home, wearing cotton pajamas and rollers, eating ice cream and catching up on your TiVo/DVR favorites? Save that for the "sick day" you take when all you really want is a break from your co-workers. No, Friday and Saturday nights are for slipping on that outfit that makes you look and feel like a million bucks, slipping your feet into the heels that make your butt stand up and salute like a solider 'ATTEN-TION!' and hitting the town; Night Club, Wine Tasting, Lounge, Live Music, Art Showing or if you're feeling a little adventurous hit the Strip Club. Don't have a date? So the eff what! Every weekend is another opportunity to find next weekend's date so until then flying solo with a smile. Going out alone doesn't have to feel like a death sentence. The night is yours for the taking and you can be who and whatever you want to be from an airplane pilot in town for a night, an undercover agent or just your fabulous self. Whatever your choice keep these things in mind:- Grand Entrance: Whether its your first time there or you're a regular the party doesn't start until you walk in. So, instead of filing in with the crowd hang back a few seconds and make sure when you come in all eyes are on you. This is your moment so make it count. Once inside, don't just snatch your coat off but slip out of it like a sculptor unveiling his masterpiece.
- Catwalk and Perch: That's right, America's Next Top Model style. If you're heading to the bar or hitting the powder room for a make up check, imagine it's fashion week and you're modeling for Vera Wang. Your walk will say everything about you before anyone meets you so keep your head up, shoulders back and strut. NOTE: check your path first to make sure there's nothing you can trip over because a twisted ankle is NOT sexy! If at all possible snag a seat at the bar, it's the best seat in the house, especially if you're wearing heels. If that's not an option then find a spot close to the dance floor so you're ready when someone asks. Put a drink in your hand (even if it's soda) and get ready to party.
- Good Time Girl: Once you've made your entrance, sashayed across the room to a spot the only thing left to do is speak...to everyone. Start with the bartender. If it's a guy flirt a little, if it's a girl shoot her a compliment so in the event the night is dead you know you've got one person to talk to. Next, talk to whoever happens to slip in to order a drink Don't worry about their looks you're just chatting so if it's not your type find something else to compliment; their clothes, accessories, haircut, or drink choice just as a ice breaker. If it's a man, keep it light and friendly. Don't forget the flirty giggle coupled with a chest grab (a la Regine, Living Single Ep. 5). Before you know it drinks will start coming your way and soon after a guy who's drawn to your confidence, surety, and sexiness. Trust me there's nothing sexier than a confident women, all dolled up, smiling and enjoying the people partying around her. He'll have to come over and get to know you.
