Welcome Welcome Welcome

As a young girl I thought of thirty as being old. That was until I met my seventh grade substitute who took over while the regular teacher took maternity leave. I can't remember her name but what I can remember is her swagger. Sista had it going on. She was the only thing the boys could talk about in class, and in lunch, and when she passed in the hall. You could actually see them try to stand a little bit taller and some even held their breath in her presence. That's was power. I wanted that. Hell, I needed that.

That's when I became her silent pupil. I began watching her every move even imitating her walk and how it mesmorized with every step. I wanted to command the attention she held and become the topic of all discussions and take her place as the star of the boys wet dreams. Unfortunately all my imitating was no substitute for the real thing. What I didn't know then that I know now is it wasn't her clothes or her face or her body that won them over, it was her confidence. Her confidence told everyone that she was the hottest thing on the block and if you didn't know you'd better ask somebody. That's the confidence that comes when you turn thirty.

So this blog is dedicated to the Confidence, Competence, Security (at least much more than the 20's) Surety, Sexiness, Freedom and overall Fabulousness that comes in this decade. No longer seeking the approval of people who's opinions really don't matter (the popular crowd, boyfriends, etc) because our spirit tells us we've got it going on. Not blind to the fact that we can do and be better but being happy where we are and moving forward to where we want to be. Knowing whatever life throws our way we will manage, maneuver and maintain.
So join and let's celebrate, share, inspire and savor this wonderful time in our lives because the fact is Thirty isn't old baby, Thirty is the Shit!!
